Job Opportunity:
Full-time Seasonal Work (June to September
5)
Tasks and Responsibilities: Maintain surveillance
over bathers while they are on the deck or the pool to ensure
bather safety
Summary of duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure the pool is ready for guests, including making sure the
rescue equipment is available and in good working condition
- Maintain constant surveillance of bathers
- Identify risks to prevent incidents and injuries
- Ensure that pool rules are respected at all times with a focus
on the safety of guests
- Know the written emergency and operational procedures to be
implemented in the event of an emergency, accident or injury
- Complete daily report (logbook) including: number of bathers
admitted to the pool, any emergencies or first aid assistance
provided
- Undertake tasks such as cleaning and maintaining the pool deck
area only when the Lifeguard is not assigned to the surveillance of
bathers
Basic training requirements:
- Lifeguard Certification - Current - a National
Lifeguard certification from the Lifesaving Society dated not more
than two years prior to the date of which the lifeguard is on
duty
- Drive awareness for National Drowning Prevention Week and World
Drowning Prevention Day.
- First Aid, Adult, Child and Infant CPR
Required Qualifications
Other requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must be able to communicate in both official languages
- Must have good judgment and a good sense of observation
- Must be able to assert themselves while having good
interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work effectively within a team
- Must be able to work days, evenings and weekend shifts
- Must be able to be in the sun
